Construction Details:

• Dual cutter high precision encoder for measurement.
• Robust baseplate – constructed from precision aluminum tooling plate.
• Fixed Cutter Block – providing the fixed datum
• Moving Cutter Block – providing linear depth movement, which can be set for particular shim size within a specified range
• Rotary Steel Cutters – providing long life
• Moveable cutter housings – providing full width cutting
• Clamping pieces (not illustrated) – clamping shim in place both on fixed and moveable cutter blocks.
• With cctv video camera and lcd monitor for visual alignment.
• Precision Linear slides / carriages – providing robust linear translation in both the X and Y directions
• Handwheel / leadscrew – allowing precise adjustment of the moveable cutter block for shim size setting
• Digital measuring readout – allowing precise shim size setting (accurate to 2 decimal places – 0.02mm resolution)
• Bridge Pieces (not illustrated) – provide intermediate support of the shim between the fixed and moveable cutters.

The units are constructed of precision aluminum (hard anodised) and steel components, providing a robust construction for continued use. Wearing items e.g. cutter wheels are readily replaceable for ease of operation. The robust construction ensures accurate alignment of the cutters, providing clean cut edges to the shim, up to a maximum of 0.25mm (nickel shim).
The optical and digital devices ensure accurate setting of the cutting heads to produce precisely sized shims.
